5th graders are required to do a Science Fair project
Information about your Science Fair project assignment has been sent home. If you have any questions, please talk to Mr. DeRuyck. Thank you!
Tips for completing a Science Fair Project:
1.) Choose a topic that lends itself to real scientific investigation.
2.) State your topic/title as a question: “Do Plants Thrive When Watered With Fruit Juice?”
3.) Use the SCIENTIFIC METHOD:
I. Question / Purpose
II. Research / Background
III. Hypothesis
IV. Experiment (list materials and procedures used)
V. Date /Analysis
VI. Conclusion / Results (Was your hypothesis correct?)
4.) Take notes as you do your research and your experiment. It will be much easier to make your Science Fair display if you have carefully recorded your information.
5.) Use a tri-fold presentation board or a large piece of foam board (scored and bent to stand) for your display. Consider using PHOTOS and 'props' from your experiment to enhance your display!
6.) Our Science Fair will be held on Thursday, November 14th. We will share projects in class, so please plan to bring yours to school on Wednesday OR leave it at school (must move it from gym to classroom) on Friday.
